The Ministry of Labour estimates the number of insured persons in employment in Britain on 17th April at approximately 12,511,000—108.000 more than a month before and, on a comparable basis, 270,000 more than a year before. At the same date the registered unemployed totalled 1.644.394, comprising temporarily laid off and 62,370 normally in casual employment.
