SURPRISE DEFEAT OF MISS BETTS (NELSON) lUollerl frees Association! CHRISTCHURCH, 14th April. The Canterbury women’s golf championship meeting was continued at the Shirley links to-day. The surprise of the day was the defeat in the first round of Miss Joyce Betts, Nelson, by Miss Zoe Hudson. Results:— First round: Miss V. Fleming beat Mrs A. C. McKillop, 4 and 3; Miss Jean Horwell beat Miss H. Buchanan, 4 and 3; Miss M. Beadel beat Miss Harkness, 2 and 1; Miss Z. Hudson beat Miss J. Betts, 3 and 2. Semi-finals: Miss Fleming beat Miss Horwell, 5 and 4; Miss Hudson beat Miss Beadel, 2 and 1.
