LABOUR PARTY EXECUTIVE TO REPORT United Pres* Association! WELLINGTON, This Day. Licensing issues raised in remits before the annual conference of the New Zealand Labour Party in Wellington yesterday were referred to the national executive for consideration and report to the next conference. The committee which reported on these remits made this recommendation on the grounds that the members of Cabinet had more important issues to deal with at present. The proposal before the conference read:— That conference set up a committee to report regarding: (a) The institution of preferential voting on the licensing issue; (b) the deletion of the prohibition issue; (c) the reduction of alcoholic content to 4J per cent, proof spirit; (d) King Country licensing laws; (e) the redistribution of hotel licenses; (f) restriction of hours of sale of liquor; (g) the advisability of actively supporting State control; (h) enforcement of the Weights and Measures Act; (i) the incidence and review of present licensing laws; (j) bringing alcoholic liquors under the Pure Foods Act. I
