RICHMOND METHODIST CIRCUIT

i _ | QUARTERLY MI ' '\G : The quarterly meeting of the Rich- ■ mond Methodist Circuit was held this week in Brightwater Methodist Church when there was a good attendance of officers and representatives. The Circuit treasurer showed that on the quarter there remained a credit balance which was quite a cheerful note. The returns indicated that the work of the Sunday schools and Young . People's societies were of an encouraging character and most helpful for the immediate future.

The connexional departments had been well supported during the year and plans were considered for the coming year which it is hoped will be an improvement on previous records.

A social effort was agreed to by the young people associated with the Brightwater and Hope Churches. This will take place during the month of May on an evening which will be chosen later. An attractive programme will be provided.

Several new subscribers were received for the “Methodist Times.” The Home Mission appeal will be taken during June. The Bishop of Nelson will preach the ninety-sixth anniversary of the Richmond Methodist Church on Sunday morning, 30th April.

A representative committee was appointed to consider proposals for a new parsonage at Richmond and to launch as soon as possible a practical sch erne.

There were other suggestions brought forward and approved which were of local importance. The next meeting will be held in July at Hope.

After the Benediction had been pronounced by the chairman, the Rev. M. Ayrton, the local ladies dispensed supper. for which they were heartily thanked by Mr J. Bolitho.
