SIR JAMES MURDOCH 1C PA —By Electric Telegraph—Copy rightl SYDNEY, 30th January. The death has occurred of Sir James ! Murdoch, a prominent business and sporting man. I Sir James Anderson Murdoch, merchant, of Park street. Sydney, was born in 1867 at Edinburgh, and went to Australia in 1884. He was Australian Red Cross Commissioner, Egypt, France and London, 1915-9. and was mentioned in despatches four times. He was a member of the New South Wales Legislative Council. 1923-33. Sir James took an active interest in .Sydney (ivic affairs, and was president of the Citizens’ Reform Association until 1930. He was knighted in 1928. He was a breeder of Aberdeen-Angus rattle and blood stock and was a member of the committee of the Australian Jockey Club.
