MR R. S. HUDSON (Received 31st January, 9.40 a.m.) LONDON, 30th January. Mr R. S. Hudson, Parliamentary Secretary for the Board of Trade, offered his resignation to Mr Chamberlain who declined to accept it before giving it consideration. TO CONTINUE IN OFFICE (British Official Wirelensl (Received 31st January. 12.10 p.m. RUGBY, 31st January. Mr Chamberlain told Mr Hudson that he saw no reason to accept the offer of resignation and asked Mr Hudson to continue in the Government. Accordingly Mr Hudson will remain in the Department of Overseas Trade. Sir Thomas Inskip, vho has been transferred from the portfolio of Co-or-dination of Defence to that of Dominion Affairs, is a King’s Counsel and former Attorney-General. He is 62 years old and was educated to Clifton and King’s College, Cambridge. He was called to the Bar in 1899 and took silk in 1914. He entered the House of Commons in December, 1918, as Conservative member for Central Bristol. Since 1931 he has represented the Fareham Division. He is a notable churchman.

He was educated at Harrow and the Military College of Sandhurst. and was stationed for a time in, India. He was president of the National Farmers’ Union 1936-37. Mr W. S. Morrison, who leaves the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries and succeeds Earl Winterton as Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster, has had a brilliant Parliamentary career since his election to the House of Commons in 1929. Educated at Edinburgh University, where he graduated M.A.. he served through the four years of the Great War with distinction, being wounded and was several times mentioned in dispatches. He was called to the Bar in 1923. Before his apopintn ent to Cabinet rank in 1936. he was Financial Secretary to the Treasury.

Earl Winterton, who becomes Pay-master-General. is 55 years old. Educated at Eton and New College. Oxford, he served with Lawrence of Arabia during the Great War. A member of the House of Commons since 1904. he became Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster in May, 1937, and from March. 3938, was a member of Cabinet and of the Air Council. He i' also secretary of the Intergovernmental Refugees Committee. The Earl of Munster, who becomes Parliamentary Under-Secretary for! War. in place of Lord Strathcona. who resigned, is 32 years old. He succeeded to the Earldom in 1928. He was educated at Charterhouse and for six years sat on ‘he London County Council. From 1932 to 1938 he war Lord-in-Wait-Ing to the King.
