ANNUAL MEETING OPENS TO-DAY

PERFECT WEATHER AND TRACK CONDITIONS LARGE ATTENDANCE AT RICHMOND PARK [By Telegraph—Special to “The Mail”! RICHMOND, This Day. The annual meeting of the Nelson Trotting Club was opened at Richmond | Park to-day. when there was a large attendance of the public. Ideal weather conditions prevailed, and the track was in excellent order and favoured fast times. The meeting will be concluded next Wednesday < Anniversary Day). Times: 3.28 1-5, 3.32 2-5, 3.35. Sylvan, well driven by C. Berkett, went a good race to win the opening event, the Brightwater Handicap, in 3.28 1-5 in 3.43 class. Native Leaf lost her chances, beginning badly, and trailed the field all the way. The early order was Count Parrish, Unworthy, Bon Haven, Worthy Merit, with Sylvan making up ground rapidly. Entering the straight Unworthy held the lead from Bon Haven, Sylvan, Worthy Merit, and Welcome Guy. The run to the post saw Sylvan finish strongly, followed by Bon Haven, Unworthy, and Worthy Merit which broke frequently. (Winner trained by L. F.
