OBITUARY
MR W. H. CARTER The many friends of Mr William Henry (Nick) Carter will regret to hear of his death. He was in charge of the Pubic Works Department aeradio meteorological construction at Raoul Island, Auckland, and when the island experienced a hurricane cn Monday last, while on duty, he was washed off the rocks and drowned. He served in the Great War as an officer in the Imperial Army, and won the distinction of receiving the Croix de Guerre. Later he came to New Zealand, working on the Shennandoah bridge construction. He was in charge of the reconstruction work on the Hope Saddle before going to the Marlborough Sounds, where he was stationed for some time, prior to his transference to Raoul Island.
