TO-MORROW’S ARRANGEMENTS

SINGLE POOL TOTALISATOR WELL BALANCED FIELDS ON FAST TRACK The Nelson Trotting Club's annual meeting which will open at Richmond to-morrow and be concluded on Wednesday of next week (Anniversary Day) has drawn well-balanced fields which will race on a track which is in good order favouring fast times. Most of the horses competing have form in their favour and some most interesting racing is anticipated. The two events of the day will be the Nelson Trotting Cup of two miles, and the Riwaka Handicap, the final event over a mile and a quarter. Both events have atti-acted good fields and the even form of the horses will give the public a task in selecting the ‘likely winners. The first race will start at 12.45 p.m. The totalisator will operate on the single pool system, with three dividends for any field of nine or more starters. The club has arranged for a course broadcast of running descriptions of the racing by Mr C. E. Craig, of Auckland. The broadcasting sj'stem will also serve for brief comment on the form of horses prior to each event and for recorded music between events. The committee has decided to reserve part of the southern end'of the grandstand for the use of club members.

A number of improvements carried out for the meeting include the removal of the judges’ box back from the course thus placing the judges in a better position and removing the building which to some extent previously obscured the finishes from the spectators in the stand immediately behind the judges’ box.

The birdcage fence has been moved back on one side and the birdcage reLr ranged. The parking of cars at the meeting will be under the capable control of the Automobile Association (Nelson).

The cup which goes with the stake for the chief event to-morrow is provided by the club. The manufacturers of Crompton boilers have again donated a boiler as a trophy for the winner of the President’s Handicap on the second day. Mr R. C.
