LOYAL HOWARD LODGE ANNUAL SUMMONED MEETING At the annual meeting of the Loyal Howard Lodge, M.U.1.0.0.F., held in the Oddfellows’ Hall, there was a good attendance of members, also of visitors, including a sister and a brother from Feilding. Officers present were: N.G Bro. G. Scott; V.G. Bro. A. Bovey; 1.P.N.G. Bro. G L. Housiaux (acting); R.S.N.G., Sis. Tangye; L.S.N.G., Sis. Scott; R.S.V.G., Sis. Wells; L.S.V.G., Sis Lamont; Guardian, Bro. Simpson; Warden, Bro. R. Wells; E.S., Bro. R. Edwards; F.S.. Bro. M. L Anderson; Treasurer. Bro. A. T. Johnson. The medical officers’ report and correspondence were received All accounts and claims were passed for payment. At this stage the guardian announced the arrival of the district officers. Bro. Martin, the District G.M., then entered, supported by the following officers: D.D.G.M., Bro. V. Stade; District Sec., Bro. F. H. Cooke; District Treasurer, Bro. D. D. Merritt; 1.P.D.G.M., Bro. R. Haycock, and P.D.G.M. Bro. W. Anderson. After the N.G. had extended a hearty welcome to the Grand Master and his colleagues, the G.M. was voted to the I.P.N.G. chair. Bro. Martin replied to the welcome extended. Bro. W. Anderson, the district auditor, read the report on the balancesheet which was duly adopted. Bro. G. Hammond presented the report on the hall committee’s balance sheet which was also adopted Sister Wells read the report and balance sheet of the social committee, which proved that the social committee had had a record year, and many congratulations were expressed to the members of the committee
The following officers were elected for the ensuing term: N.G.. Bro. A Bovey; V.G., Bro. R. Edwards; E.S., Bro. R. S. Twort. After a ballot Bro. G. L. Housiaux was elected as Lecture Master. Sis. Tangye, Bros. Housiaux. Stade, Merritt, Wells, F. Cooke, and W. Anderson were elected to the Vigilance Committee; hall committee, Bros. Cooke, Housiaux and W. Anderson; lodge management committee, Bros. F. Cooke. G. L. Housiaux and W. Anderson; social committee. Sister M. Wells, Sister M. M. Lamont, Bros. A. Bovey, R. Wells, G. L. Housiaux, J. Black, and R. S Twort; indoor bowls delegates, Bros. R. Wells and C. Parsons; United Friendly Societies Council, Pros. R Wells, V. Stade and F H. Cooke; United Friendly Picnic committee, Cister Tangye, Bros. J. M. Black, and G. L. Housiaux. The following names were forwarded to the district annual conference: D.G.M., Bro. V Stade; P.D.G.M., Bros G. Scott and G. L Housiaux. The delegates appointed to attend the conference are Bros. W. McConchie, G. L. Housiaux, W. Anderson. C. Reynish and G. Scott. For the district management committee. Bros. W. Anderson, C. Parsons, G. L. Housiaux, W. McConchie and C. Reynish were nominated.
Bro. Fiddler, of Feilding, thanked the lodge for the welcome extended to himself and to his wife. Bros. C. Reynish and G. L. Housiaux spoke on their recent visit to Christchurch, and conveyed fraternal greetings from the lodges there.
The Grand Master took over the lodge and installed the newly-elected officers in their respective chairs, and also Sister Millson as V.G. of the Loyal Nelson Lodge. The D.G.M. then made a presentation of a Past Grand’s collar to Bro. J. M. Black. There being no further business the N.G., Bro. A. Bovey, closed the lodge, after which the social committee handed out a very welcome supper.
