N.Z. DEFENCE LEAGUE

MEETING TO FORM NELSON BRANCH AT SCHOOL OF MUSIC NEXT TUESDAY An appeal for the interest of the public in the activities of the New Zealand Defence League was made at the weekly meeting of (he Nelson Rotary Club by Colonel C. B. Brereton, who pointed out that a meeting would be held in the School of Music next Tuesday evening for the purpose of forming a Nelson branch of the league. Colonel Brereton said that the Hon. \V. Perry. M.L.C.. of Wellington, president of the League, and Mr Eric Reeves, Dominion organiser, would be in Nelson for the meeting. The adequate defence of New Zealand was a matter for the individual to interest himself in and the individual could co-operate with the League and assist it in Nelson by attending the initial meeting. The danger of possible attack was to-day a real danger and no one knew how soon all would be compelled to take an interest in defence.

The president, Rotarian J. G. McKay, commented that the World was experiencing a time when all countries should face up to their responsibilities and he hoped the meeting referred to by Col. Brereton would be largely attended.
