Swimming over the distance alone in order to retain her 100yds intermediate backstroke title. Miss Joyce McDonald. Southland, registered the remarkable time of 1.14 1-5. to beat the existing record of 1.17 1-5. at the New Zealand junior and intermediate swimming championships, which were I continued in Rotorua to-night Miss R j Stackpoole. Auckland, created the prc- I vious record. Miss McDonald also j beat her own time of 1.14 4-5 estab- ! lished in Auckland last week. Her Auckland time was made in salt water and. with such heavy water as in the Blue Bath, her performance was outstanding. Results of to-night’s events are: 75yds. intermediate girls’ breaststroke: M.
