'Preaching one Sunday, a vicar seemed absent-minded. Ilia eyes were continually straying towards a small window by his side. Suddenly he surprised his congregation by exclaiming: “ thought so!” Leaving the church after the service an old parishioner asked him the meaning of his words. “While I was preaching,” said the vicar, “I was looking out of the window at an old woman pulling a cabbage. All I could think was: ‘When that cabbage comes up, over she goes.’ And I was right.”
