ASHHRUST MEETING

CUP TO LUCULLUS LAI) MORNING FLIGHT-SUCCESSFUL PALMERSTON N., 23rd January. With an increase in both totalisator and gate figures, the annual meeting of tie Ashhurst-Pohangina Racing Club today was the most successful for a number of years. A large crowd witnessed exciting racing, with many close finishes. The weather was fine, overcast and very warm, and the track in good order and fast. The totalisator handled £19,251, compared with £17.325 10s last year, an increase of £1925 10s. Gate takings increased £2O. The pay-out on the last race was delayed because an inquiry was held to consider whether Gay Chou’s boring out at the finish affected the result. It was decided that there was no interference.
