The Earl of Winterton in a speech said, “Those unamiable septuagenarians, Lloyd George and H. G. Wells, have recently been screaming defiance against the Dictators and Mr Chamberlain. What an odd way for these old gentlemen to spend their last years. They are scolding a world which has long ceased to take either seriously.”
