The “Chronicle” says that Count Ciano informed the Japanese Ambassador at Rome that Italy was ready to sign an agreement transforming the Anti-Comintern Pact into a military alliance. Previously Italy’s signature had been withheld owing to the Rome-Lon-don talks. Japan requests that the pact be directed exclusively against Russia, but Signor Mussolini does not wish to limit its scope owing to the development of the Anglo-American bloc.
