END OF SECTION PLAY
TWO FOURS REMAIN UNBEATEN j NEW ZEALAND BOWLING TOURNAMENT AUCKLAND. 17th January. The annual tournament of the New Zealand Bowling Association was continued to-day, when the final two rounds of section play in the fours , were completed. The final day’s play in the various sections was characterised by close I games, with teams fighting desperately . to qualify. Fifty-eight teams qualified i for the post-seciton play, a notable failure being that of Wilson’s Linwood , four, titleholders last year, which, by , losing the last game to-day, did not secure the requisite number of wins. The only players who secured the , possible of eight wins in section play I were B. Myers (Avondale), and R. t Thomas (Mt. Albert). Teams which , recorded seven wins were M. M. Sunde ' (Glen Eden), E. Newman (Thames), ; W. C. Franks (Balmoral), W. Bremner ' (West End). C. E. Addison (Eden- \ dale), J. Engrebretsen (Wanganui), E. , W Taylor (Carlton), G. B. Evans \ (Hamilton), S. W. Thompson (Hillsboro), W. J. Short (Pukekohe), H. Montgomery (Auckland), and F. Livingstone (Onehunga). ‘ There were 39 teams with six wins, and these, together with five skips who ’ tied in one section with five wins, will , also contest the post-section play to- ' morrow. Post-section play in the sin- , gles and pairs events, which were sus- ' pended pending section play in the 5 fours, will be continued |o-morrow.
