“A PEBBLE ON THE BEACH”
ITo The Editoi I Sir,—Having exceeded the allotted span of 70 years of age I have lately been considering the question of a comfortable resting place for my earthly remains after the Spirit has departed from the body. I have, for many years past, been very decidedly of opinion that cremation should be strictly enforced, thus doing away with unsightly cemeteries to say nothing of the unnecessary cost of burial, tombstones, etc., etc., but the question of just what to do with the ashes, after cremation, gave me considerable thought until I hit upon the idea of having my ashes encased in concrete in the form of an ordinary boulder, which is to be deposited and lost on the Nelson Boulder Bank at another “Pebble on the Beach” in company with the millions of tons of natural boulders enjoying the balmy sea breezes and during gales the spray from the mighty ocean. Can any of your readers suggest any more sanitary or comfortable resting place?—l am. etc., OVER SEVENTY. I Nelson, 17th January.
