STAKE INCREASES
AUCKLAND RACING CLUB I British Official Wircleasl AUCKLAND, 16th January. The Auckland Racing Club has decided to increase stakes as follows: Easter Handicap, £BOO, to £1000; Brighton Hurdles, £4OO to £500; Great Northern Hurdles, £1250 to £1500: Great Northern Steeplechase, £ISOO to £1750. Other events at the autumn and win-! ter meetings will carry the same prize money as last year. Stakes for the; Great Northern Foal Stakes of 1939-40 have been increased from £756 to £IOOO, and for the Great Northern Champagne Stakes for 1940 from £6OO to £750.
