NOMINATIONS FOR ANNUAL MEETING

GOOD LIST OF ENTRIES TWELVE IN CUP EVENT When the nominations for the Nelson Trotting Club's annual meeting closed last evening with the secretary, Mr E. R. Neale, there was a good list of 185 entries for the 16 events—*92 for the first day's programme on Saturday, 28th January, and 93 for the second day on Wednesday, Ist February. A large number of those nominated are new to the Nelson meeting and include Canterbury, Wellington, Marlborough, West Coast and Nelson horses, the largest entry naturally being from L. F. Berkett, the Hope trainer, who will have thirteen horses engaged. There are twelve nominations for the Nelson Trotting Cup and seventeen for the last event on the first day, the Riwaka Handicap. Thirteen were nominated for the chief event on the second day* the Presidents, and a large field should result from the nineteen nominations for the final race on the second day. the Farewell Handicap.
