DEPARTMENTAL REPORTS DECREASE IN CARGO HANDLED The monthly meeting of the Nelson Harbour Board last evening was attended bj' Messrs A. Gould (chairman). H. W Kelly. J. H. Brunt, W. B. Griffin, A Max, H. W. Chisnall, G. Manson, I. Neale, A R. Kingsford and J. B Carr. The bank pass bool* current account showed a credit on 31st December of £4343 17s Id. as compared with a debit on 30th November of £361 19s sd. Mr Harold Barnett applied for the vacant position of nightwatchman. It was decided to let the present position continue until the end of April, j The Shell Company agreed to the I temporary placing of dredge discharge pipes across the company’s property. * The Nelson Regatta Committee was granted permission to hold the annual regatta on Ist February or later, and to barricade certain portions of the wharf and make a small charge. The Department of Labour, Wellington conveyed hearty thanks and appreciation to all local employing authorities for assistance during the past year in connection with the promotion of employment. The chairman expressed appreciation of the work of the local officer. Payment:* totalling £3OIO 8s 7d were approved, and accounts amounting to £249 17s lid were passed for payment.
