EXTENDING PRESENT COMPLEMENT OWN SHORE BASES lU P A.—B.v Electrio Telegraph— Copyright! LONDON, 30th December. It is announced that the Admiralty aims to extend the present complement of the Fleet air arm—3ooo officers and men—to 10,000 by 1942, also that it is planning to establish its own shore bases, including a special “air dockyard” for the repair and maintenance of all planes used by the Fleet. The "Daily Mail” points out that the Fleet Air Arm will shortly be as big as the R.A.F. was before the expansion scheme began.
