YEAR’S FIRE DAMAGE
IN AUCKLAND DISTRICT I United Pres* Association! AUCKLAND. 30th December. The number of fires and damage done in the Auckland metropolitan fire district during the year ending to-mor-row were substantially in excess of the totals for 1937 Fire damage for the year was approximately £70,000, including an uninsured loss of nearly £20.000. against a loss of £37.000 in 1937. Brigades in the area responded to 1041 calls, compared with 839 in the previous year.
