MAYOR OF NEW YORK ATTACKED

Shouting, “I have been after you for four years,” James Hagan, aged 48. struck down the Mayor of New York, Mr La Guardia, from behind on the steps of the City Hall to-day. The Mayor came up fighting and the pair traded punches till they lost their
footing and rolled down the steps. A chauffeur jumped on the assailant's chest while the mayor grabbed his legs. Together they carried Hagan bodily into the office. Hagan, who is unemployed, has been sent to hospital for observation. The mayor was shaken and also was injured under the eye.
