ARBITRATION COURT
AWARDS APPROVED FOR NELSON DISTRICT A sitting of the Arbitration Court was held in Nelson to-day with Mr J. A. Gilmour, S.M.. presiding, to consider a number of disputes in which agreement had been reached by the parties in the Conciliation Court.
The following disputes were approved for the making of awards:— Nelson Local Body Officers’ (employers. Mr H. G. West; employees, Mr A. Johnson).
Nelson Butchers’. Three employers, Messrs Finney, Sanders and Piric were exempted pending the next sitting of the Arbitration Court in Nelson.
Nelson and Westland Theatre Employees’ (employers. Mr H. G. West; employees. Mr F. Turley). The parties arc to confer and submit an amended clause regarding the scale of wages in towns under a certain population.
The Nelson Miners’ Union dispute (employers. Mr T. Neale and Mr H. G West; employees. Mr V. Me Lagan). The Magistrate said the award would be made in the terms of the Puponga agreement, and advised the parties to await the decision of an appeal from a Magistrate’s decision in regard to the re-engagement of employees. Mr Neale had asked for the West Coast Award clause in repcct to rc-engage-ments to apply to the Puponga mine.
