ROUND THE WORLD BAREFOOT
TO SKETCH FOR LIVING TRAMP THROUGH THREE CONTINENTS [By Air Mail—Special Correspondent] LONDON, 3rd December. A London artist plans to walk barefoot round the world. Starting with only a few shillings in his pocket, he will earn his living by sketching passers-by. Twenty-years-old Anton Sabian has already “sketched” his way through Europe. This time he means to tour three continents. “I intend to walk through France to Marseilles, cross the Mediterranean and tramp down to South Africa, then work my way across to South America and tramp to North America,” he said this week. On his tramps abroad the young artist has often lived well by his art. “For instance,” he said, “I was down and out in Lugano once. A wealthy Yorkshireman came up to me and questioned me as to whether I had the right to wear a Union Jack on my back. I think these people must have been on a trip round Europe for, as they were leaving they passed round the hat and filled it with coins from Spain, Germany, France, Russia, Italy and one or two other countries. When 1 cashed them they totalled more than £B.”
