FOXHILL SCHOOL

CHRISTMAS TREE AND CONCERT END-OF-YEAR FUNCTION A Christmas tree and concert were features of the end-of-year function at the Foxhill School. There was a large attendance of parents and the public at the Foxhill Hall for the concert. The children’s marching, recitations, and Highland Fling dancing were exceptionally well done. The display showed that the teachers had given time, thought and patience to get such a fine result. Father Christmas arrived about 9.30 p.m. to distribute presents and prizes to the children. A happy thought by the children was the provision of presents on the tree for their parents and for the members of the school committee.

Gladys Quinney, the Dux of the school, was unavoidably absent, but she was honoured by three cheers, and tributes were paid to her work in the school.

The scholars made presentations to the teachers, Mrs O’Connor and Miss Govan.

The secretary, Mr Arthur Stewart, on behalf of the committee thanked the scholars, teachers and residents who had helped in making the function such a success, and he specially thanked those who had made or donated gifts for Jhe Christmas tree. So complete had been the arrangements that gifts were provided for all the small children in th.e district under school age. A delicious supper, which included ice cream and sweets for the children, concluded the evening for the children and the adults finished the evening with a dance, the music being provided by Miss Rapley and Mr R. Best.
