TARRING ON MOUTERE ROAD

CONTINUING TOWARDS MOTUEKA WILL OCCUPY FROM TWO TO THREE DAYS The Automobile Association (Nelson) advises that tarring has been recommenced on the Moutere-Motueka section. Approximately one and a half miles of road surface will be treated continuing towards Motueka from the

part already treated. This work should occupy from two to three days, but the road surface will not be thoroughly dry for about a week. On the completion of this tarring sealing with bitumen and chips will be commenced. The sealing of the prepared surface will not be completed till about the end of January. The length of time of the job will depend I on the weather conditions. The final process of sealing does not inconvenience motorists to such an extent as tarring on account of the fact that the mixture is thicker and chips are laid immediately.
