NEW ZEALAND ASSOCIATION The monthly meeting of the Council of the New Zealand Golf Association (Inc.) was held at the secretary’s office, Wellington, on Friday. 9th December. 1938. when there were present: Sir Alexander Roberts, Messrs W. A. Kiely, J. C. Peacock. C. A. Burgess, J. H. Drake. A. R. Sclanders and G. O. Sutton (secretary). An apology for absence was received from Mr W. E. A. Gill. Club Membership.—The secretary submitted to the Council a list of clubs which have not yet complied with requests to send in a certificate of membership as at 31st May. 1938, and also a list of clubs which, although they have furnished a return, have not yet paid their subscriptions. Limitation of Number of Clubs. —A letter received from the Royal and Ancient Golf Club of St. Andrews (18/10/38) advised that at the last meeting of the Royal and Ancient Golf Club it was decided that the clubs used by a player during a round shall not exceed 14 and the clubs carried shall be restricted to that number. Penalty: disqualification. These alterations are subject to confirmation at the next general meeting to be held in May, 1939. and thereafter will operate immediately. The Royal and Ancient Golf Club is being asked to advise this Association definitely immediately after the meeting in May. Standard scratch scores allotted by the S.S.S. Committee were approved as under: Gisborne Park 72. Waikohu 68, Paraparaumu Beach 72, Hanmer Springs 70. Lucifer Golfing Society.—This society forwarded a programme of their next event for Empire overseas golfers in London in June, 1939. Particulars of this may be obtained from our affiliated clubs. Mr A. D. (“Bobby”) Locks forwarded a letter of appreciation of his treatment in New Zealand and an autographed’ photograph for the Council.
