“SUNSHINE PROVINCE’"

NELSON PUBLICITY FILM The beauties of the Nelson Province are attractively presented in the publicity film, “Sunshine Province,” made by the Government Tourist Department with financial assistance from the Nelson Provincial Progress League. A preview of the film was seen at the Majestic Theatre this morning by members of the Progress League, the Waimea County Council and others interested. The film commences with the arrival of a plane at the aerodrome, and the entertainment of guests 'at a charming Stoke home. The visitor is then shown glimpses of the city, the Cathedral, the parks and the golf links. The beauties of Tahuna beach are made the most of, and its safeness is commented on. Its appeal to holidaymakers is strong. Yachting and aquaplaning in the Nelson harbour form a pretty picture and comprise further seaside attractions. The visitor then leaves the town and is taken on a tour jin which he sees not only charming landscapes and coastal views but is I shown typical Nelson industries in full j swing. Appropriate songs form an accompaniment to work in the hop | gardens and orchards. These are ! screened in a way that makes a beauj tiful picture as well as giving the various phases of work in both industries. The growing, picking and drying of tobacco should prove of great interest in other parts of New Zealand. Kaiteriteri and the “Split Apple” rock, symbol of Nelson’s major industry, scenes along the Golden Bay coast are interestingly shown and commented on. The film should give the Nelson province splendid publicity throughout New Zealand, and further afield, it is hoped. The photography is good and the general presentation bright and informative.
