ITALIAN COLONIAL CLAIMS

Five thousand students in the Latin, quarter burlesqued the Italian claims, marching and shouting “Give Us Vesuvius and Venice.” Corsicans resident in Monte Carlo demonstrated against the claims, the police preventing scenes outside the Italian Consulate. There were anti-Italian demonstrations at Toulouse and Strasbourg, students marching through the streets demanding that Italy hand over Sicily, Sardinia and Tripoli. Police were called out to protect the Consulate.
