No official information is available regarding Lord Perth’s (British Ambassador) visit to Count Ciano (Italian Foreign Minister), to inquire the meaning of the anti-French demonstration in the Fascist Chamber on Wednesday, but it is understood that Count Ciano in reply said that he could not accept responsibility for spontaneous demonstrations and that there was no question of impugning the validity of the AngloItalian Agreement under which the status quo in the Mediterranean is guaranteed.
