WATERSIDERS’ DEATH
CLAIM FOR COMPENSATION FAILS 'Ont’eiJ Press Association! GISBORNE. 29th November. Judgment was delivered by Mr Justice O’Regan in the Court of Arbitration to-day in a claim by Nora Teresa Corkery, widow of Thomas Corkery, waterside worker, for £ 1000 compensation for the death of her husband, alleged to have been due to the nature of his work while in the employ of th* Gisborne Lightering and Stevedoring Company, Ltd. The Court dismissed the claim on th* ground that the medical evidence conclusively proved that death was due to coronary thrombosis, which was not caused by physical effort.
