Mix well dry ingredients, add fruit previously prepared, treacle, eggs well beaten, and lastly milk, essence and brandy. Darken with burnt sugar if desired. Put into scalded and floured pudding cloths or into wellgreased basins covered with scalded and floured pudding cloths. If divided into two, boil 8 hours; If into four, boil six hours.
