Williamson Corporation Limited, while employed as a servant of that company, Cyril Kempt, aged 28, theatre manager, pleaded guilty and was committed for sentence. There were three charges. Accused, who was manager of the Kilbirnie Theatre, in a statement to the police, admitted retaining money for his own use. The reason for his lapses was that he had lost a great deal of money through playing cards. He had since played cards and backed horses in order to recoup his losses. He had not used the money in repaying his debts, but in playing .ards in order to get money to pay his debts. At one time he owed £2OO. It was later that he went of his own free will to the executive officers of the company and made a voluntary confession.
