WORLD TRADE
BREAKDOWN PREDICTED UNLESS TARIFF BARRIERS REMOVED VIEWS OF SIR GEORGE PAISII fC.PA.--By Electric Telegraph-Copy right! (Received 29th November, 12.40 p.m.) WINNIPEG. 28th November Sir George Paish, the well-known economist, addressing the Institute of International Affairs, predicted a complete world trade breakdown within a year unless the policy of self-sufficiency pursued by nearly every nation was abandoned. The breakdown would first lead to world revolution, then to world war. Every nation must reverse its tariff policies in favour of freer trade if disaster is to be averted* The greatest hope is that Britain and the United States will get together and announce to the world what they will do regarding freeing trade on condition that Germany and other nations act reasonably.
