FARM DEVELOPMENT
GOVERNMENT MACHINERY PROPOSAL NOT FAVOURED A proposal put forward at the meeting of the Whangarei branch of the Farmers’ Union that the Government be approached with a view to the State, by the use of modern machinery, assisting farmers in the development of their farms, did not meet with support. The fear was expressed by the president, Mr N. Horrobin, that such action would give the Government an opportunity to commence with the State control of farms a position which the union was strenuously opposed to.
