NEW TEAM BATS WELL MATCH ON JUNIOR WICKET In order to give Waimea a match on the Park, the Old Boys-Y.M.C.A. game was played on No. 2 junior wicket at the Park on Saturday. The wicket was in very good order and Y.M.C.A. put up a good performance in scoring 201 in good time. The Old Boys’ opening bowlers were quite ineffective and the first wicket put on 60. Bryant, J. Du Feu and O. Du Feu all made tidy scores and were not really troubled by any but the slow bowlers. A. Newman’s first over produced three for 0 and Busch and Alloo also bowled effectively.

In the 80 minutes remaining Old Boys put themselves in a strong position by running up 116 for one wicket, the second wicket partnership having already added 104. Both batsmen gave chances, J.
