AUCKLAND WOOL SALE
GOOD START MADE BRADFORD AND CONTINENT ACTIVE AUCKLAND, This Day. The wool sale opened with a catalogue of 24,000 odd bales to a bench of seventy buyers. The bulk of the bidding was confined to about a dozen front benchers who buy for Bradford and the Continent, with occasional orders for America. The wool consisted chiefly of hoggets, wethers and dry ewes. The sale made a good start. Competition was keen at values that seemed slightly above those ruling for the corresponding sale last year. Fleece wools were averaging about to lO&d per lb, and the first catalogue was promptly disposed of with very few passings. Fine wools were relatively in less demand and the top price for the first catalogue was 15d. a figure that may be exceeded later when some Waiheke clips are offered.
