GRAIN AND PRODUCE
BUSINESS IN CANTERBURY MARKETS STAGNANT • United Preer Association* CHRISTCHURCH. 23th November, j Business in the Canterbury grain I and produce markets is stagnant. Thu : only lines for which there is any do- j mand are dun outs and chaff, but j these are practically unprocurable, | Quotations are unchanged. Though it is too early yet to obtain j any conclusive indication, prospects t for the coming season look very good, j The acreage of wheat in Canterbury may not be as large as it was last season, but crops are in excellent con- j dition, and it is expected that an improved yield will offset any re- j duetion in area. Growth on Bunks' Peninsula has been exceptional, and , this promises well for the cocksfoot t crop Merchants' stocks of all lines are , very small, and prices to farmers in i the coming season should be satisfac- j j tory. „
