LIQUID MANURE

Liquid manure can be applied to most crops at one stage or another of their growth, states an English authority. It is more especially useful in the growing of any green food. Cabbages and catch-crops will show a marked advance in growth after a few applications even in the most adverse weather. It may be used on the hay crop in the early stages of growth and more particularly on early pastures. Its great effect on grassland and green crops is due to the great amount of nitrogen it contains. Pure cow urine contains more nitrogen and potash than does farmyard manure, taken ton for ton. It can readily be understood why it has such an effect on green food. Its manurial properties are, however, confined to the growth of green food. It may also be used on turnip and mangels in the young stage.
