DICTATOR COUNTRIES
EXTENSION OF TRADING FACILITIES OPPOSITION IN CANADA fU.P.A.—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright] (Received 25th November, 1 p.m.) MONTREAL, 24th November. A dispatch by the Ottawa correspondent of the “Gazette” states that there is every likelihood that demands for Canada to sever her trade relations with Germany, Japan and Italy will be raised during the forthcoming session of Parliament. It states that businessmen are opposed to an extension of trading facilities to the dictator countries as provided under the English, American and Canadian treaties. Canada has favoured nation agreements with Germany, Japan and Italy, which automatically grant them all the concessions given to the United States. The textile and rubber industries particularly are hard hit by Japanese competition through the ridiculously low cost of production in Japan, and contend that this handicap has now been increased through the new concessions.
