18-FOOT YACHT CHAMPION

TO DEFEND TITLE AT AUCKLAND OTHER BOATS COMING lU.P.A.-Bv Electric Telegraph-Copyrightl (Received 26th October, 11.5 a.m.) SYDNEY, This D ay. The Aucklanders, Messrs Dennes and Webster, attended a meeting of the New South Wales Eighteen Footers League, and extended official invitation to the regatta in 1939, and the centennial carnival in 1940. It is likely that four boats will compete in the New Zealand championship at Auckland in February. Bert Swinbourne, skipper of the world champion Taree, said that unless something unforeseen happened the Taree would be certain to make the trip, although he has a to demand that the world championship be sailed in Sydney. Swinbourne will probably defend the title in New Zealand. Other boats likely to visit Auckland are the Malvina, which is the present Australian champion, the Deewhy and Ajax.
