ADDINGTON MARKET
RANGE OF PRICES I United Press Association! CHRISTCHURCH, 7th September. The entries of fat sheep at the weekly stock market at Addington to-day were considerably smaller than last week, and prices fojr best lines were a shade better, with others unaltered. In the store sheep there was little change in values, and a line of wether hoggets brought 14s 3d to 14s 7d. A pen of ewe hoggets brought 13s 7d j older sorts, 18s. Ewes and lambs sold relatively well, one pen made Us Id to 11s 6d, all counted. There was little demand for any class sheep, particularly forward wethers. The fat sheep entry was sightly more than 4000, but quality was lacking, the big proportion being rough and unfinished. Sheep values settled down at very little change from last week as the sale proceeded, and a few outstanding pens of ewes and wethers rose by Is a bead, but no quotable change was made in other classes. Prices were : Sheep: Extra prime wethers made to 35s 4d ; prime, 29s 6d to 32s ; prime medium, 25s to 28s 6d ; others, down to 20s; extra prime ewes, 28s Id ; prime, 20s to 245; prime medium, 16s Gd to 19s; others, down to Us. The fat cattle entry #1 542 met quite a sound demand for good and medium quality, although at distinctly lower values. Rates on last week decreased, and the price averaged about 20s. Good beef made to 41s a 1001 b ; tops, to 43s . heavy, 35s to 395; secondary, 34s to 36s'; rough, down to 275; extra prime steers, to £l9 12s 6d; prime, £ls 15s to £l7 ss; prime medium, £l4 to £l6; light £lO 10s; extra prime heifers, £l4 2s 6d ; prime, £ll to £l2; medium, £9 5s to £lO 15s plight, £9; extra prime cows, (£l4 12s 6,1 ; prime, £9 10s to £lO ss; medium, £7 5s to £9 • light, £6 15s. The entry of fat pigs was scarcely sufficient for butchers’ requirements. Choppers in medium supply again met with good competition. Ba.oilers came forward in heavier numbers and values receded 2s to 3s a head, except for first quality choppers, which made £3 Is to £7 lsj porkers, 39s 6d to £3 12s 6d, and the average price alb was 7fd to bacohers, £3 14s 6d to £5 9s bd, and the average price a lb was 7d to 7fd.
