The New Zealand Schoolboys’ Soccer team defeated Cessnock by five goals to one this afternoon in dull and showery weather. Irwin opened the visitors’ account soon after the start, the New Zealand team holding this advantage until the interval. Scoring three goals in quick succession after play was resumed. Yeoman displayed a wonderful knowledge of the game. He added a final goal right on time.- Cessnock repeatedly attacked, but Munro’s efforts at goal were brilliant. He made many outstanding saves. Play was not confined to one particular goal mouth, and end-to-end play gave both sides frequent opportunities to score. The visitors have every reason to be proud of the success of defeating the cream of the players who virtually comprise the nursery of this code in Australia.
