LIVE STOCK MARKET

THIS WEEK’S BLENHEIM SALE LITTLE CHANGE IN PRICES Following the sale of about 600 fat sheep at Seddon oil Monday, there was an easing tendency at the Blenheim yards with a slight falling off in prices for fat stock compared with those ruling a week ago (reports the “Express”). ,The presence of three outside operators had the effect of brightening the competition slightly, but everyone was apparently working on very restricted limits for once bids reached a certain level interest faded out. The general quality of the yarding was not outstanding, hut there were seine fairly good wethers offered. The feature of the sale was the entry of a station line of Romney-cross ewes, wethers and hoggets, in all totalling 680. Divided up into lots, the whole line was disposed of in the face of some of the brightest competition' of the auction. Altogether 550 ewes were offered in the fat section, and very few lots were passed in. The best price was 15s 7d, paid for 16 well-finished heavies, while three other attractive lots were quitted at L4c lOd, 14s 4d, and 14s Id. In the vicinity of 10s and up to 12s was the most popular range.

The best of the wethers were contained in one pen, where two very heavy twotooths, offered singly, fetched 24s 7d and 24s Id. A pen of 21 prime sorts offered o'l account of Mr E. R. Webb, Omaka, brought 22s lOd, and another lot of prime weights offered on behalf of Mr VV. Murray, was quitted at 22s Id. Several lots wer edisposed of at between 20s and up to 21s 6d. A few lambs offered in the fat department were knocked down ah from 14s 4d up to 18s Id. THE STORE SECTION Comprising practically the whole of the store section, the line of Romney cross ewes, wethers and hoggets already referred to, which.were brought down from Rai Valley, attracted a good deal of attention. One. draft containing 148 goodconditioned sound-mouth ewes in lamb to Romney and Southdown rams, found a buyer at 15s 6d, while another lot of almost similar sorts made 13s. A pen of 66 4 and 6-tooths occasioned some sound inquiry and was finally knocked down at 17s, and a pen of 52 2-tooths was quickly run up to 17s 6d before being quitted. A line containing 90 la me 2,4, 6 and 8-toolhs was disposed of at 5s lid. All the above ewes were in lamb to Romney and Southdown rams. A pen of 46 4 and 6-tooth wethers fetched 34s dl. Among the hogget? were some very sturdy sorts. One pen of 71 well-woolled ewes fetched 10s 3d, and 66 wethers made 8s 2d. A pen of 26 Down crosses fetched 8s 3d.

included in the line were four oneshear Romney cross rams which were disposed of at 27s 6d.
