COST OF PENSIONS
PAYMENT LAST YEAR TOTAL OF £6,312,530 INCREASE OF £1.372.102 I United Press Association! WELLINGTON, This Day. Pensions totalling £6.312.530 were paid during the year ended 31st March last, according to the annual report of the Pensions Department, which was piesented in the House of Representatives yesterday. This sum represents an increase of £1,372,102 over the pension payments for the previous year. The cost of pensions last financial year was £4 3s 2d a head of European population as against £3 5s 9d the year before A table in the report shows the gross payments for the past two years of all pensions administered by tlje department. Details are as follows: Class of pension 1936-37. 1937-38.
