HANKOW AERODROME BOMBED
NO DAMAGE DONE HANKOW, 14th July. Nine bombers raided the Hankow aerodrome without doing any damage. Four British gunboats are standing by. BRITISH NAVAL MEN FOR PATROL DUTY SHANGHAI, 14th July. ! At least 100 British naval men are proceeding to Hankow to patrol the foreign areas. GUERILLA RESISTANCE BROKEN (Received 16th July, 11.20 a.m.) TOKIO, 15th July. Japanese claim to have broken guerilla resistance in Southern Shansi, dispersing and Killing 200,000. APPEAL TO CHINESE WOMEN : " TO USE COSMETICS (Received 16th July, 9 a.m.) HANKOW, 15th July. The People's Political Council has issued a decree appealing to Chinese women not to use powder, rouge, and lipstick and to restrict their consumption of sweets. They are asked to devote their savings to a special reconstruction fund, supplemented by special taxation on wines and cigarettes. The Prime Minister, Mr Kung, set an example by discarding his limousine and riding to his office in a rickshaw, escorted by two armed cyclists
