The full text of the Board of Control’s cable to the Australian cricket team in which permission was granted for the players’ wives to travel to England and join their husbands at the conclusion of the tour, was as follows: “After careful consideration of the team’s request that Bradman's wife might visit England at the conclusion •f the tour, the Board is of the opinion that no such privilege should be given to Bradman which is not available to the team as a whole. However, the Board agrees that the wives of all members of the team may join their husbands in England after the conclusion of the last match of the tour provided that the Board is involved in no cost whatever as a result.”
