•*or the purpose of attending a meeting of the Australian Agricultural Council, the Minister of Agriculture (the Hon W Lee Martin) left Auckland by the Aorangi for Sydney. The meeting will begin at Canberra next Tuesday, and the Minister will return to New Zealand by the Awatea on 26th May after visiting some of the agricultural districts of New South Wales.
Mr j. p. Hooper, aged 48 years, a prominent member of the Labour movement and a candidate for the Wanganui City Council and the Harbour Board, died suddenly while at work yesterday morning, states a Press Association message from Wanganui He leaves a widow, three beys and three girls.
